        Singing Lessons in Devon

The physiological benefits of singing, and music more generally, have long been explored. Music making exercises the brain as well as the body, but singing is particularly beneficial for improving breathing, posture and muscle tension.

I offer online and one-to-one singing lesson for adults and children within the field of pop, jazz and world music. I have been singing for my entire life and hold a Bachelor of Music degree majoring on vocal performance and teaching. I have gained more than 15 years of experience working as a vocal teacher with children and adults. I also have experience working with vocal ensembles and choirs.

My students successfully participated in various musical festivals, open mics and talent competitions, such as Britain Does Variety, Torbay and South West Music Festival, Exeter Performance Arts Festival, Paignton Festival and the others. Discover tailor-made singing lessons to suit your abilities and needs, learn new techniques, enjoy your favourite music and have fun!

I teach from my home in Paignton, and also at Barton Hill Academy.

        Piano Lessons in Devon

The physical and mental benefits of playing music have long been recognised. The piano, in particular, has been an unparalleled outlet for those seeking escape, creative expression, and simply fun and joy. Recent years have only seen more evidence of the benefits of piano come to light, linking music making to a healthy body, a healthy mind, and a healthy life. Some benefits of studying piano include stress relief, improved cognitive abilities, reduced anxiety, and increased confidence. Playing piano also requires patience and discipline – two traits that can be useful in other areas of life. Studying piano has also been shown to amazingly improve memory — particularly verbal memory — and build good habits like focus and perseverance, diligence and creativity. Children who had a few years of piano study under their belts could remember twenty percent more vocabulary words than their peers.

I offer one-to-one piano lesson for children and adults. I have gained more than 15 years of experience working as a music, singing and piano teacher, and I believe that learning piano can be a great fun!

I use a special method based on learning theory of music, which makes piano studies a lot easier. My pupils successfully participated in various musical festivals and other special events, such as Torbay Music Festival and Plymouth Music Festival. Most of them normally take graded music exams.

I teach from my home in Paignton, and also at Galmpton CoE Primary School.

        Jazz singer in Torquay
Originally from Russia, I was born in a city called Ekaterinburg. This city is situated in the Urals - the geographical boundary between Europe and Asia.

I started studying music at the age of 6 at a local music school. Initially, I studied singing and piano and - later on - musical theory, the history of music and choir conducting. By the age of 19 I discovered the old Jazz recordings and fell in love with the sincerity of this music and its emotional freedom. Shortly after, I entered the department of Jazz and Contemporary music at the College of Music named after Tchaikovsky. While undertaking 4 years of study, I deepened my musical experience by attending jam nights, meeting with wonderful musicians and singing at Jazz clubs with various band combinations. My biggest achievement at the time was employment with the Ekaterinburg Theatre of Variety Arts as a vocalist for the big band; I worked there for 2 years.

A few months before my graduation, I travelled to Moscow to take part at the Jazz Voices festival. I adored the hustle and bustle of this large, vibrant capital city and I was struck by the mastery and creativity of musicians that I met. Realising that there were many more opportunities to improve my own skills and experiences, I decided to relocate there.

During my first year in Moscow, I took private lessons in Jazz vocal and improvisation. It was during this time that one of my coaches asked if I wanted to try and enter the Gnesins Russian Academy of Music. Gnesins Russian Academy of Music is the one of the oldest and the most famous musical high schools in Russia, and its Jazz department is highly respected throughout Russia. The spaces are always in high demand and a competition to gain a place is tough each year and I knew gaining a place would be incredibly difficult. Despite large amounts of self doubt about my chances of gaining a place, I decided to be brave and to make the application process a 'life experience'. Fortunately my hard work paid off and I was accepted - this was the start of my next 5 challenging years in Moscow. In this period, I was not only studying, but performing with various Jazz bands and combos and joined a vocal a'cappella group. I was also participating in a various vocal competitions and musical festivals in Russia and abroad, including Ukraine, Italy and Norway. Additionally, and to extend my experiences further still, I started working as a vocal teacher with children and adults. After all this hard work, I passed my graduation exams with distinction and obtained a degree.

A few years passed and it was all change again. I relocated to start a new life in Devon, England. I have lived in the South West of England now for many years and made it my home. Since relocating, I've had a few exciting projects. These include founding and managing a local choir; teaching singing to children and adults in private lessons; organising and participating in local concerts and musical events, including those for a local charity; performing as a wedding and event entertainer. My main aim is to promote the beauty of live music and true emotions that a simple genuine sound can bring.
